This is my web site about one of my favorite things which is... Donuts!
The Olykoek is just and old way of saying "donut" Olykoek is also a way of saying oil cake
The Olykoeks (in the 1900's) Elizabeth Gregory made this deep-fried treat with her son's spice cargo of nutmeg and cinnamon and along with a little bit of lemon rind on top
In 1920 when a man named Adolph levitt an enterprising refugee from Russia began selling fried doughnuts from his bakery people wanted them to make a machine that could make donuts as tasty as he did and he did it
people could see how the doughnuts were made behind the scenes. some people learned that the hole of the donut is built in and not cut out.
by the 1930's his machines became better and better which earned him 25 MILLON dollars a year! Or should I say dough.
